EXERCISING REDUCES THE CHANCES OF GETTING AN EYE DISEASE

In a research that was conducted by researchers at the University of Wisconsin that followed up over 4000 men and women in a period of 15 years it was found that exercising reduces the chances of getting an eye disease.
According to the research that mainly focused on the eye as well as exercising, it was discovered that individuals who had an active lifestyle, meaning those who regularly exercise were 70% likely to develop an eye disease as compared to those who had a life that did not include exercising.
A condition which usually causes light sensitive cells which are usually found at the back of the eye to stop working is usually referred to as Age Related Macular Degeneration or AMD.
According to numerous studies and test that were carried AMD is the leading cause of severe vision loss in the developed world. AMD is known to affect an individual’s central vision which is usually used when driving.
In the study which initially began in 1988, the researchers based their study on exercising habits as well as eye health on individuals who were between the ages of 43 and 86 rather than a scientific study which solely focused on eye cells.
Based on the research it was discovered that one in four of the participants had an active lifestyle and almost one in four climbed on a daily basis at least six flights of stairs.
Results that were obtained from the research showed that individuals who had an active lifestyle were 70% less likely to get or develop the AMD disease as compared to those who had little exercise. This conclusion was reached upon after taking into account risk factors such as blood fat levels, weight as well as age.
