HIV epidemic may strike back- Experts

Activists, doctors, Non-governmental organisations world over worked hard to control the massive problem of HIV infection. The recent report is pointing out that whole effort would be useless as funding to fight the HIV-Aids is decreasing. Many nations have failed to generate more funds. Lancet Commission and UNAids conducted a research regarding dangerous situations of funding.

In order to keep up with massive AIDS curbing efforts and to stop further infections the world has very short time to increase funding otherwise HIV will strike back. The decade long hard work would be of no use.  Director Peter Piot from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine said that in order to sustain current aid effort, increase in HIV fighting aid in a must.
The HIV infections were reduced by almost 44 percent in last decade along with child mortality rates associated with it. The reverse process begin soon.  Some effects of this are already visible. Between 2005 and 2013, HIV infections increased by sharp 50 percent in Indonesia. Another underdeveloped country, Uganda now has 1,70,000 new infection. The number was 90,000 back in 2011.

The developing world is going to suffer more due to poor medical facilities, low health insurance penetration, lack of contraceptives and low literacy. Data from North America, Asia and Europe shows that men who have sex with men are more vulnerable to the infection due to unprotected sex. These high risk populations need to be monitored well. Social and legal discrimination of sexual minorities also need to be stopped.
